Them big boys are a set of 6 mild steel structures dressed in blue boiler suits, that are capable to stand on their own, but which can also be combined into pairs to create a sense of engagement between them.
These works are adaptable to the exhibition space. The articulated nature of their joints permits them to be displayed in a wide range of positions; and the fact that they can stand individually or in pairs, also allows different ways to set them up, depending on the spatial requirements of the space.
In these pieces, I try to address issues related to the formation of identity and to the idea of individuality. I work with the concepts of multiplicity and interchangeability, with the boiler suits acting as standardized versions of myself. Using the body and its movement as materials, I have created a series of identical figures that can be made to stand, as if frozen in the middle of an action.

These repeated bodies are larger than a person and have no heads. Due to their size and nature, when installed together, they establish a their own set of spatially disruptive conditions. The new rules, modify the physical qualities of the exhibition space; and the way it can be perceived and experienced by the audience, when walking amongst them. This action of moving, has the ability to trigger an event in the form of a performance, executed either by the artist or by the audience.
