Martino is an articulated steel structure with the shape of a human body. It is covered in a blue boiler suit. A performer, dressed in the same manner, uses their body to interact with it by means of two handles at the end of its arms and two clasps, which as extensions to its feet, can receive a shoe, each.
The structure is constructed in a way which limits the movement of the performer, forcing them to physically adapt to its characteristics.
This imposition, together with its weight, makes physical interaction quite taxating. For this reason, the performer will only be able to do so for a few minutes at a time, having to take numerous breaks. As part of the choreography of the piece, the performer motions the structure in order to acquire a physically demanding position, which is held for as long as this is possible.
