Within Cells interlinked is a durational performance involving drawing, as well as the full body engagement of the performer, with a human sized figure and a confined space.
This piece addresses issues related to the role of artists, as labourers, in the current artworld, as well as the development of their identities.
Using the repetition of a physical task as the material that drives the action, It questions the way the identity of artists might be formed. This is achieved by looking at ideas related to the human body such as exertion and (sexual) gratification, as well as concepts related to the world of industry and consumerism, like standardization, modularity and prefabrication.
